Best watch purchase this 2024, bar none. Price, looks, feel, mechanics and heritage. One field watch to rule them all.
Got this from Amazon for a mere US$100. For a manual-wind mechanical movement and sapphire crystal, this watch punches above its weight and puts most affordable Seikos to shame. Granted, the movement is a bit dated (reviews say its a China-made Seagull movement) but it keeps time well enough and the winding action is superb.
The overall case design is spartan--as it should be given that it's a field watch. However, the lume is weaker than most and the second hand is a bit short. The sandblasted case is well-finished and holds up to everyday wear, showing no scratches. The signed crown is also a nice touch and the tactile winding mechanism is pretty robust.
The stock strap is quite good for the price and I thought I would replace it with a NATO but I didn't have to.
Not sure if I would pay the almost Php14K at retail in the PHL but Amazon prices are unbeatable, few watches can match the slightly over Php5K mark. Overall a great value watch.
